Guild introduced its first dreadnought models in 1963; the D-40 Bluegrass Jubilee and the D-50 Bluegrass Special. Renowned for their balanced, articulate sound and excellent projection, these models quickly found favor with flatpickers and fingerstylists alike.

Guild has been building dreadnought acoustic guitars since 1963, and their instruments are revered for their value, reliability, and tone. This robust, high-volume body style was developed with an emphasis on string-to-string balance, so that treble, mid and bass registers project evenly.

The quality and ubiquity of the jumbo 12-strings has earned Guild a permanent place in guitar history. As historians Tom and Mary Anne Evans once wrote, “The basic virtue of Guild 12-strings is that they are very loud and (have) a clarity and definition of sound not normally associated with 12-string guitars.” One of the keys to that clarity and definition is solid construction.

The Guild Company recently hosted a special symposium at their new factory in Connecticut in September and we were invited. The Guild GAD-212 mahogany dreadnought 12-string delivers that familiar Guild tone, used on countless recordings and stages over the years. Designed for easy playability, this guitar is the choice of many who are seeking a finely tuned 12-string player.

A great sounding 12-fret neck cutaway classical with a neck that a steel string player will love, this is made out of solid African Padauk on the back & sides, with a solid cedar top, bone nut & saddle, one-piece mahogany neck, 1-3/4" nut width, all wood binding and purfling, ebony fingerboard, East Indian rosewood bridge. It is factory equipped with a professional Seymour Duncan Timber-line pickup system and it comes to you in a fine hard shell case.
