Resonator Guitars

The new Model 1 with it's steel body, rubbed nickel finish, single cone sound, is absolutely tremendous. One can sense the wonderment when people first heard that haunting, vocal sound emanating from the Model 1. These instruments are loud, with a clear, warm tone.

The NRP Tricone borrows many of its features from our single cone NRP guitar. The body is made from thin-gauge steel and has a formed back. Each is carefully hand painted at our factory in San Luis Obispo, Ca. A mahogany neck clears 12 frets to the body and features an unbound ebony fretboard complete with inlaid mother-of-pearl position markers. Tuners are vintage-style engraved, open gear.

Its tuners are National brand; the nut material is bone (much like ourselves); the fingerboard is rosewood bound with ivoroid and displaying mother of pearl markers.  The fret wire (I know you need to know this) is .106 in width and .039 in height.   This model utilizes a 9.5” hand-spun resonator with a maple biscuit; the neck is hard rock maple so you know what kind of music you can play on it.

The NRP Steel features steel body construction with a ribbed sieve-hole coverplate, just like the pre-war original resonator guitars. The hard rock maple neck has an ivoroid bound rosewood fingerboard and slotted headstock.

The Beard R Model has taken the most desirable features of the vintage period guitar, including the open sound well construction, and combined them with exclusive improvements in materials, construction, finishes, appointments and technical innovations. This creates a traditional instrument that has a perfectly balanced, full-bodied sound.

The NRP model captures the look and feel of an original 12 fret National Duolian. The thin-gauge steel body is highlighted by flat cut "f" holes, a formed back, and period-correct, traditional non-ribbed coverplate. Each body is hand painted to capture the look of the originals. Vintage-style plain tuners, ebony nut, and "National" stamped headstock complete the look this classic.

It utilizes a bone nut, an ivoriod heel cap, an ebony fretboard and a biscuit bridge. The guitar’s fetching, enticing body is made laminate mahogany - but then so were its prewar antecedents. It comes in a fine hard shell case.

A mahogany body combines with a highly figured Eastern hard rock maple veneer top.
