Nechville Musical Products has been in business since 1989, manufacturing professional banjos and related accessories for the booming acoustic and electric string instrument market. They have gained a respected reputation among the nation's top builders as being a leader in innovation and design. The company owns patents on Nechville's unique Heli-mount banjo design and it has been enthusiastically accepted by the world's top players such as Bela Fleck and Alison Brown.
The new home of Nechville Musical Products is a 13,000 sq foot industrial/office/retail space in Bloomington, MN 55431. Nechville Musical Products is always innovating to meet the changing needs of modern musicians. Replacing more than seventy parts of a traditional banjo, the Nechville Heli-Mount body tightens together much like a jar on a lid; greatly reducing the assembly time and improving the banjo's sound. Tom Nechville has spent years in development and in consultation with the world's top players researching and finding ways to meet the needs of professionals. His experience has led to the refinement of the electric banjo, which has re-directed a new world-wide spotlight on the banjo.
At Nechville, their aim is continuously to build the instrument you've been dreaming about.
This banjo is made in a special way because it has a cocobolo-titanium capped tone ring, mounted on 80 ceramic tone spheres. Other people might call them ball bearings but these people have no idea that they are far classier than simple, pedestrian ball bearings. These are used because they are so much lighter in weight. This packs the most sound per pound possible by way of the most modern technology. It has a 7” to 12” compound radiused ebony fingerboard, which hosts diamond wing mother of pearl inlay. It features the comfort bevel Cocobolo armrest. The tailpiece is the in-line Nechville appurtenance, and it has a ¾ radiused Enterprise bridge. The resonator is comprised of a veneer of tight-figured maple with an amber sunburst stain – nearly three dimensional. This is enhanced by having black binding with a decorative white stripe. The headstock houses Gotoh premium tuners with grained ivoroid buttons. The fingerboard is bound in black and white nitro-cellulose binding. It has a two way stainless steel truss rod affected through the peghead and also the quick-adjustable neck connection for variable action. This feature provides a significant benefit – it allows a banjo player to use a tall bridge and still have low action. In addition it is elegant, beautiful, and it sounds like one of the finest bluegrass 5-string banjos you have ever heard. The List is $4290.
