When visitors ask me to show them my personal favorite guitar, out of all in the place, this is the one I hand them. This flavorful frittata may be a bit pricey (by golly) but if owning one of the finest new six-string flattop instruments ever made, in the history of Facile Featherless Bipeds with Fingerpicks, this would be that astonishing musical tool. Not only is it shapely and beautiful (a sight to behold on every level), smooth and silky, and, when played, it emits a Happiness Vibe so richly textured and deeply etched that it produces a facial response similar to the one we display whenever Charlize Theron walks into our High End Room and asks about acoustic-electric cutaways (in our dreams, so far), but also, when played acoustically, its cascading waterfall of notes hang in the air and seem to sustain forever. But that's just half the story. When plugged into a high quality acoustic amplifier you get to hear a sound like no other. It sounds not like an acoustic-electric guitar, but more like a 40-foot-long acoustic guitar whose fidelity is entirely true to the acoustic paradigm, only louder, or a string quartet or a pipe organ [these are only metaphors - no actual string quartets are included in the case pocket].
The combination of Madagascar rosewood and Carpathian Red Spruce (the Transylvanian equivalent of our own home grown Adirondack, except it's from Romania, hopefully in full view of The Castle) is as articulate, crispy, clean and clear, punchy, powerful and nearly phantasmagoric as a combination of woods can sound. I know it's hard to believe - but if you gave up dining at that fancy Japanese restaurant on 57th St. just 17 times this year you could have this guitar in your living room for the rest of your life.
Owning a McPherson guitar is escaping, whenever you pick it up, from the superficial, mundane, predictable pedestrian world of what others call Reality and transporting yourself to a special place, a place where angst and apprehension are extinguished and tranquility prevails. I am not making this up. That's what this brand of guitar does for me, and if you try 5 or 6 of them in our showroom - but especially this one - I would think it would have the same effect for you.
Come visit - and leave yourself a block of time to experience this plectral paradise we call the Beloved Mandofarm, and the Cornucopia of Acoustical Confections inside.
Per the requirements of the manufacturer, McPherson guitars can be shipped to their destination only by UPS Next Day Air or Messenger Service.
