We think you’ll like the guitar because it has a really low action and it’s not at all tiring to play. The back and sides are sapele which tends to be similar in many ways to mahogany in sound and also in appearance except that it has long, wide golden stripes running through it. The top is moderately wide-grained, presumably Sitka spruce, although it has not begun to orange and there is a possibility (we suppose) that it could be Engelmann. The neck is straight as an arrow and inlaid with lovely and delicate etched abalone squares diamonds, cats eyes and bowties.
Interestingly the wood bindings on the top and back edges are sapele. Wooden bindings dramatically contribute to giving a guitar, a woody, open, airy acoustic tone, resplendent with the church-bell like tintinnabulation one associates with great sounding 12-strings. Guild provides Grover Rotomatic tuners and a strap button at both the upper bass and the bottom sides. Considering its modest price, its ease of use and its exciting sound quality, not to mention that wonderful tweed case, we think you’ll like this guitar - an instrument it may not be possible to find fault with. It is, as we say, a keeper.
