Since its early-’50s introduction, the Fender® Precision Bass® guitar has remained the world standard for thick tone and smooth playability. The Hofner Ignition Series Violin bass is a made-in-the-far-east (well, specifically, Indonesia) interpretation of the iconic instrument that Sir Paul has made universally famous beyond words.    Hofner is thought to utilize actual spruce (they called it “Select”) for the top and not quite as actual flamed maple for the sides and back (let us call it “layered maple”), which produces the sweet, warm, round sound with which we are so fondly familiar.
