Directions coming from
State College: Heading out of State College, going south,
stay on Rt. 322-East until you pass the Rt. 144 (Potter's Mills) and
begin to climb First Mountain (of the Seven Mountains area). The 322
road is two-lane until half way up, then it turns into a four-lane restricted
access highway. Just immediately after it becomes a four-lane highway,
you will see on the left Decker Valley Road. A sign saying FOLKIE
REUNION will be there where you are supposed to turn. Turn
left onto that road.
In a few hundred feet, you will see another left-hand turn onto an unnamed
road that will take you up and over Kohler Mountain. There will be small
signs indicating Mt. Acres at the beginning of that road. A pink sign
saying "REUNION" will also be posted. Just on the other side
of the ridge you will see the entrance to Mt. Acres on the left.
Directions heading to State College
from Harrisburg: Heading towards State College headed
north on US Route 322-West, go past the Lewistown Water Reservoir and
over Long Mountain. As you descend on Rt 322-West into Happy Valley, just
before the road changes from a four-lane into a two lane, take a right
hand turn onto Decker Valley Road. A sign saying FOLKIE
REUNION will be there where you are supposed to turn.
Then, in a few hundred feet, you will see a left-hand turn onto an unnamed
gravel road that will take you up and over Kohler Mountain. There will
be small signs indicating Mt. Acres at the beginning of that road. A pink

Information about Food and Saturday Night Banquet
Food will be provided (except the Banquet) as part of the $50 'cover fee'
at the Mt. Acres cabin. We don't have a Reunion Food Committee Chairperson
this year, so we'll be looking for volunteers to organize and prepare meals.
If you have special dietary needs please do let us know. We will provide
snacks, brunches, and other goodies--no one will go hungry or thirsty. There
will be soft drinks, coffee, tea, beer, wine and so forth. Several people
have said that they will also be bringing something to eat or drink. We
welcome any food or beverages offerings but no one is obliged to provide
anything.
The Saturday Night Banquet will be at the Allen Street Grill; cost of the
Banquet is not included in the $50 'cover fee'. We'll try to carpool and
all depart together from the Mt. Acres cabin. The Allen Street Grill is
located above The Corner Room in the Hotel State College at the corner of
College and Allen Streets in State College. For more information go to http://allenstreetgrill.com
Other Useful Information
If you are staying in the cabin, please remember to bring sheets, pillows,
and towels. We will try to put couples into private bedrooms and singles
into shared rooms. There are some double beds, which we will assign to
couples. We expect that everyone who comes will have a bed to sleep in.
We will do our best to make you comfortable--just let me know if you have
any problems or special needs. There is also ample space for RVs and campers,
but no hook-ups.
The bedrooms in the cabin are "rustic." We didn't mind when
we were young, but you may have higher standards of quality now. If you
prefer, there are many good motels and hotels in the area. Because this
is not a very busy time in the area, and there are so many motels, you
will not need reservations and good rates are available. One of the newer
hotels that is popular is the Atherton Hotel, located on Route 322 (Atherton
Street) between College and Beaver. It is very modern and reputed to be
of very good quality (originally built for the Hilton chain). For those
who prefer nostalgia, The Autoport, State College's original Motel, is
still in business and even closer (by a mile) and the quality remains
good, although the rooms are, of course, dated (as are we). For those
who prefer something less expensive, the Stevens Hotel, located further
down the road on the north side of town, is said to be quiet and clean
and one of the better deals in town. It does not have a web site, but
it is located on 1275 N Atherton St. (Rt 322-W Bus.) phone (814)-238-2438.

We must depart from the Mt. Acres cabin by 12 Noon on Sunday. We hope
that everyone will share in the clean-up effort so we can get our full
deposit back.
The Reunion fee is $50 per attendee, regardless if the person is local
and not staying in the cabin or coming from a distance. Some folks have
not sent their money in advance. In that case, he will collect it when
you arrive at Mt. Acres. However, please do let John Frink know if you
are coming or not, as this information will be useful in our final planning.
His email is: mailto:John@JFrink.com
Before you depart, we will calculate expenses and return any unused money
to you or, if you choose, add it to the "folkie reunion continuance
fund". If we run over budget, we will make up the difference out
of the continuance fund--$50 is the maximum you need to pay per person.
Kids are free and very welcome. Expenses (except for those flying great
distance) should be very modest.
