Lowden

Over the years the Lowden -32 has become more sought after especially because of its full bodied and yet very clear defined tone. The Sitka spruce top helps to balance the rosewood’s warm fullness.   The S version has been a bit of a surprise in that it has a large body sound in a concert sized instrument!

George Lowden says that this is model comes from his Original Series.   He adds:

“I first developed these designs back in 1976 and although I have added the medium sized ‘F’ and concert sized ‘S’ to the range since then, little has changed.  Features include the ‘Dolphin’ profile soundboard bracing for Lowden voicing, the 5-piece neck with ebony bound fingerboard’ Gotoh 503 gold with ebony machineheads; Bone top nut and saddle; all solid AAA grade tonewoods; all wood bindings and purflings and rosette; and a split two piece saddle for accurate tuning.”

The O version is especially warm, full and clear, the F (Small Jumbo equivalent) is the same but with a more focused projection making it ideal for flat-picking and fingerstyle.
