Absolute perfection is the goal with every Apitius mandolin. To achieve this end, Apitius instruments are made with uncompromising attention to detail. First, the very finest of woods are chosen. Close grained spruce, quartersawn, with a minimum of runnout is selected for the tops. Highly figured curly maple, which is prized for its beauty as well as its tone, is used for the back, sides and neck. This wood is then painstakingly carved by hand and expertly graduated. It is then tap tuned, not only as a "free plate" but also after being fastened to the sides. Tone bars are slim and are used only to control the vibration of the top and not for structural support. Then, after the mandolin is put together, the "f" holes are tuned to produce an instrument with good balance. Smooth, flowing lines, graceful ornamentation are the hallmarks of Apitius craftmanship.

In honor of the father of bluegrass, the Rosine has virtually all of the same appointments as Bill Monroe's beloved F-5. Features include b/w purfling on side surfaces only, a choice of a 29 or 24 fret fingerboard with mother-of-pearl position markers, torch style inlay, nickel plated Schaller turners, engraved nickel plated tailpiece cover and a hand applied varnish finish.
